Copper Promises: Hinemihi Haka coming up at IMPACT 15 Festival, Canada.

Almost exactly two years on from presenting Copper Promises: Hinemihi Haka at The Place in London, Victoria Hunt is reconnecting to this wonderful, intense piece in readiness for performances at the IMPACT 15 Festival in Kitchener, Ontario. We leave next week! It is really good to be presenting Copper Promises again after an extraordinary fire in April this year at Clandon Estate (Surrey, England) burnt the manor to the ground. Victoria says, “much of the taonga that had been acquired, gifted and bought over many generations, resulting from this colonial legacy, has now been destroyed. Remarkably my whare tupuna Hinemihi, survived this, yet another catastrophe...She stands more alone than ever, but kept warm in the hearts of her Kaitiaki and a great many others. ”.

STILL POINT TURNING SYDNEY SEASON

From its sell out season at Dancehouse for the Melbourne Festival, STILL POINT TURNING will open on 27 November as the final presentation in FORM Dance projects’ 2014 Dance Bites season. Inspired by T.S. Eliot’s Burnt Norton, the production is a ‘danced poem’ exploring time, stillness and turbulence. Juxtaposing our obsession with ‘clock time’ against the nature of cosmic time, STILL POINT TURNING explores the profane world of schedules, alarms and itineraries and the grand arc that is our life – birth, death, growth and decay. Book here now!

Pozible success and Copper Promises is off to London

We did it! Our Pozible campaign is a wonderful success through the generosity of 90 supporters. Victoria Hunt will perform Copper Promises: Hinemihi Haka at The Place as part of the ORIGINS Festival of First Nations later this month. She will also present her performance installation Copper Promises: Day of Invigilation for Ecocentrix at the Bargehouse – an exhibition focusing on indigenous arts. Its an amazing opportunity to present her work overseas for the first time. While in London she will also pay homage to Hinemihi (her Maori ancestral meeting house which was taken to Clandon Park in Surrey 120 years ago!) and begin a new work on this experience.

Paul White – Sydney Festival success

Mostly Berlin-based these days, Paul was back in Sydney for Martin del Amo’s “Anatomy of an Afternoon” in the Sydney Festival. A beautiful, articulate performance of this sensual and challenging new work. review review But you had to be quick!….Paul left Sydney’s (un)summer for Europe chills and is about to perform The Oracle at the Holland Festival http://en.holland-dance.com/event/46/meryl-tankard. Glad to say that Artful has tempted Paul to return soon to perform In Glass in the Spotlight Program at the 2012 Australian Performing Arts Market
